DNDi

Social Media Animations

Challenge:

DNDi is a non-profit research and development organization that discovers, develops, and delivers safe, affordable treatments for neglected patients worldwide. Their communications team needed a way to translate complex scientific content into engaging, accessible visuals, especially for audiences outside the medical field.

They turned to animation as a way to make the science more human, visual, and memorable — without oversimplifying the message.

Role:

Art Direction | Illustration | Animation

I partnered closely with DNDi’s internal team to design animated explainers that brought their stories to life — from molecular pathways to treatment outcomes.
Each episode was designed with accessibility in mind: light enough in tone to be enjoyable, but sharp enough to retain credibility with medical professionals.

The creative challenge was to distill dense, technical content into clear, accessible visuals — while maintaining scientific accuracy and working within cost-effective production constraints.
I worked alongside DNDi’s team, who provided existing scripts and key medical messaging. Together, we brainstormed ideas before I took the lead on storyboarding, illustrating and animating each piece.

Impact:

The animations brought new clarity and energy to DNDi’s science communications on social media, helping translate complex research into visuals that inform and engage. The internal team noted that the work made their ideas easier to explain and more enjoyable to watch — supporting both campaign visibility and public understanding.

Approach

I partnered closely with DNDi’s internal team to create a series of explainers that brought clarity to their most complex topics — from molecular mechanisms to treatment delivery.

To tie the episodes together, I developed a cohesive visual language —
a shared illustration style, rhythm, and tone that could adapt to different topics while staying recognizably part of the same series. This consistency gave the project structure, while still allowing room for variation and nuance from one video to the next.

Each video was built to communicate clearly without oversimplifying, with a balance of warmth and precision designed to resonate with both lay audiences and scientific stakeholders.
